Ogontz Arts Foundation [NH]: Ogontz Choral Workshop Now in its 28th season, the Ogontz Choral Workshop (July 23-29) offers extraordinary opportunities for singers, church musicians, and choral conductors to work on choral repertoire with some of the world’s leading choral directors. Participants will delve into Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Geronitus with British choral conductor David Hill, director of the UK’s BBC Singers and The Bach Choir, and of Yale University’s Schola Cantorum. Hill will also lead singers through an exploration of European Sacred Music (Oxford Choral Classics), an anthology of over 50 choral gems from the last five centuries, edited by John Rutter. CONCORA and the Summer Festival Chorus [CT]: CONCORA Summer Festival concert Excerpts from favorite choral masterworks by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Vivaldi, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Fauré, and others. CONCORA’s Artistic Director Chris Shepard will direct the CONCORA Summer Festival Choir, which typically numbers about 100 singers from across Connecticut, with some coming from nearby states. Choral singers from across the region are invited to apply by May 30 to participate (see the attached flier). The Festival offers a week of exceptional music-making, uplifting repertoire, and high artistic standards in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for socializing, renewing friendships, and making new friends.
