Choral Music Director

The A Cappella Singers is searching for a director who specializes in vocal performance. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, possess a range of musical knowledge, and have education and/or experience in directing singing groups. Piano skills are preferred, but not required. In addition to running rehearsals and conducting each concert, responsibilities also include coordinating additional musicians as pieces require, providing guidance on vocal techniques, and attending a monthly virtual board meeting. The director will enjoy broad creative license in selecting the pieces for each season’s concert program, having access to our extensive music library and a modest budget to facilitate new musical selections. The A Cappella Singers is an equal opportunity employer.

The A Cappella Singers is a non-profit chorus of adult treble voices based in Natick, Massachusetts. This auditioned group sings a variety of musical styles, including classical, modern, spiritual, and secular music. We perform two seasonal concerts per year; one in winter, and another in spring. We do not rehearse or perform in the summer months. Despite our name--a charming artifact of the group’s humble beginnings--we primarily perform and rehearse with piano accompaniment. Current enrollment is 18 singers who come from a variety of musical backgrounds and represent a broad range of ages. We are experienced vocalists who have passed an audition, and we read music fluently. The membership is currently growing. We are celebrating our 60th year!

Rehearsals are held every Monday from 7-9pm at Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church in Natick. Two additional rehearsals are flexibly scheduled each semester: one mid-season Saturday morning rehearsal, and a dress rehearsal held the week of the concert. The Spring 2024 concert is scheduled for May 4th, 2024.

Starting date: January 1, 2024, with the first spring rehearsal to be held January 15, 2024.

Salary: $4950 per annum ($550 per month from September through May).
