Description

The Concert Choir is proud to have provided fine choral music to the community for more than 50 years. In 1959, a group of local singers came together under the leadership of Warren Geissinger. The group’s first concert, performed on June 5, 1960 at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, consisted of Bach’s Contata No. 192 and Fauré’s Requiem.

We traditionally perform an early December concert, with rehearsals starting in September, and a late April concert, with rehearsals starting in late January or early February.

We do not require an audition to join the group. Because the music we perform is somewhat challenging for the amateur singer, it is helpful – though not required – that our singers be able to read music. We provide assistance in a variety of forms to help you learn your music. Depending on the season these aids might include recordings or computer files that emphasize your part in context with all the voices.

Beyond the rehearsals and concerts, many of our members consider CCNC their musical home, and have sung with us for decades. We encourage members to socialize outside of actual rehearsal. Time before and after rehearsals, break time, and our pre-season potlucks and annual meeting provide opportunities to develop ties with others in our Concert Choir family.
