iCal 8:00 PM. Counterpoint [VT]: Vermont Sings For Peace. Participants include Bella Voce, Maple Jam, Monteverdi Young Singers, Robert de Cormier & Friends, Social Band, Vermont Choral Union, and your host group – Counterpoint. Each choir will sing moving repertory focused on peace and social justice from the classical, jazz, and folk genres, and all will join together for favorites “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”, “We Shall Overcome,” and “Dona Nobis Pacem.” The audience will have a chance to sing along too! Following an afternoon workshop with the student singers, Counterpoint and the Colchester High School Chorus join forces for a concert. Each group will sing music from their own repertory, and they will combine for performances of Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia” and an arrangement of the folksong “John Henry” by Robert De Cormier. iCal 3:00 PM. Counterpoint [VT]: “Echoes” – Choral Music of Richard Stoehr. Three substantial motets and a beautiful German partsong from Stoehr’s earliest period of mature composition. With Solaris and Bella Voce. Richard Stoehr was a highly respected Viennese composer, author, and teacher, whose students included Herbert von Karajan, Erich Leinsdorf, Rudolf Serkin, Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein and Marlene Dietrich.
