Classic songs by America’s leading living composer of music for the theater. FREE ADMISSION – A goodwill offering will be collected. \ \ Following their Tenth Anniversary performances last May of the Brahms Requiem, the popular Chorale sings classic songs of another type – the songs of America’s leading composer of music for the theater, Stephen Sondheim. They’ll be accompanied by John Thomas on piano and Jeff Myers on percussion.

The Outer Cape Chorale begins its twelfth season with a concert of exquisite compositions by American composers – almost all written in the past eight years. Most of the works have never been performed on the Cape before, and several have never been performed in Massachusetts. Jon Arterton will lead the chorus, accompanied by eight string players and piano. Composers to be featured include Eric Whitacre (The Seal Lullaby), Morten Lauridsen (Sure On this Shining Night), Ola Gjeilo (Luminous Night of the Soul; The Ground), Kentaro Sato (Laetentur Caeli), Gwyneth Walker (How Can I Keep From Singing), Randall Stroope (Song to the Moon), Grant Cochran (Simple Gifts), Frank Ticelli (Earth Song) and Stephen Paulus (The Road Home). Keyboardist John Thomas and percussionist Jeff Myers are joined by The Brentwood Brass quintet: Robert Kidd, Thomas Bober, Sal Chines, Ronald Brown and James Krikava. Now in their 12th season, the 150-voice Outer Cape Chorale is a non-auditioning chorus, conducted by founder Jon Arterton, that attracts singers from Hyannis to Provincetown. They make their concerts free in order to bring their joy of singing to as many people as possible. Provincetown Town Hall, 260 Commercial St., Provincetown MA 02657 (View flier)
