iCal 5:00 PM. GMChorale/Wesleyan University [CT]: The Bill of Rights: Ten Amendments in Eight Motets. Neely Bruce's “The Bill of Rights: Ten Amendments in Eight Motets”, composed in the style of William Billings, is performed by GMChorale’s chamber ensemble, Alchemy, other community choral singers, Wesleyan students, and others. With harp, string quintet, flute and oboe. The performance is part of a project by Wesleyan's Center for the Study of Guns and Society that includes documentary filmmaker Karyl Evans, Harvard Professor Jill Lepore and Wesleyan Professor Jennifer Tucker, who are producing a documentary and performance video of the work for CPTV and national PBS broadcasts. In light of recent targeting of our immigrant communities by the federal government, Musica Sacra is donating a portion of the ticket proceeds to the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA).
