Auditions for Boston's LGBTQ+ Coro Allegro
Coro Allegro, Boston MA
Coro Allegro, Boston's LGBTQ+ and allied chorus, will hold auditions for all voice parts on Thursday, September 4th, from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, September 6th, from 9-12 p.m. at the Church of the Covenant in Boston. We are especially looking for singers who can sing in the alto, tenor, and bass ranges. The audition is approximately 15 minutes and consists of a range check, vocalizing, pitch recognition exercises, and sight-singing. You do not need to prepare a solo piece.
Coro Allegro is an auditioned classical chorus led by Artistic Director David Hodgkins. It is known for its creative programming, pristine intonation, beautiful sound, and social consciousness. We seek singers with excellent musical skills, including sight reading and good intonation. The group is all volunteer and rehearses at the Church of the Covenant in Boston's Back Bay from 6-9 p.m. on Sundays.
During the past season, Coro sang three glorious full-length concerts, performed the National Anthem and participated in a memorial service at the nationally televised World Figure Skating Championship at the TD Garden, and sang at both the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum of Arts and Culture and the Boston Singers Resource Pride events. The following season includes works by Lauridsen, Vierne, Whitbourn, Bernstein, Ives, and Van Ness. We’ll sing at The Church of the Covenant and First Church in Cambridge for our regular concerts this year. A welcoming and inclusive singing environment is essential to us, and we celebrate the diversity of our singers.
Please consider joining us and experiencing musical excellence, fun, and community. Interested parties may request an audition through this Interest form.
