For performances of the Romancero Gitano by Mario Castelnuevo-Tedesco, written for chamber chorus and guitar, in Exeter, Newington and Durham, NH. Catherine Beller-McKenna, Music Director.

For two concerts combining secular motets by Vittoria Aleotti with sacred motets by the nun, Rafaella Aleotti, for female voices and instruments. Amelia J. LeClair, Music Director.

The Chorus of Westerly, Westerly, RI — www.chorusofwesterly.org
For two performances of Charles-Francois Gounod’s Messe Solemnelle de Sainte Cecile. The chorus, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, will provide a free master class for voice students from local high schools and colleges. George Kent, Music Director.

The Da Camera Singers, Amherst, MA
To commission and perform Elephant Rocks by Lewis Spratlan, a setting of a poem by Kay Ryan, as part of the group’s 35th anniversary season. Performances will be given at Amherst College and as part of the inaugural year of the Rhodes Arts Center at Northfield Mount Hermon School. Sheila Heffernon, Music Director.

To support establishment of a Junior Choir for children in grades 3–5. The new program will broaden the scope of the existing chorus, which is an auditioned community chorus for grades 5–8. While the Junior Choir will be open to all children in the New Britain area, the target populations will be boys and African-American and Latino children of both genders. To support the commissioning of a new work by William Bolcom in honor of the group’s 40th anniversary. Adam Grossman, Music Director.

To support a mentorship program in which four professionally-trained ensemble singers will be hired to serve as enhanced section leaders and mentors to the group’s volunteer singers for the entire 2008–09 season. Mark Bailey, Music Director.

To support the New England premiere and first commercial recording of Dominick Argento’s Jonah and the Whale. The performances will include a children’s matinee to introduce choral music to children, particularly those with limited access to performing arts education. Andrew Clark, Artistic Director.
