Women in Harmony, a long-standing, feminist chorus in Portland, Maine, is seeking an experienced artistic director to start in the Fall of 2026. The AD will lead the chorus in all aspects of chorus programming, conducting, and performing, including selecting appropriate repertoire for our voicing and mission; planning and implementing weekly Tuesday rehearsals from September to May; conducting at least two concerts a year; auditioning new members; coaching vocal development; and motivating singers. The Music Director is responsible for leading the music during Lutheran (ELCA) liturgical worship. This includes regular consultation with the Pastor to review hymnody, anthems and related music to enhance the worship experience. Also included is leadership and direction for a small senior choir. Available instruments include a Yamaha baby grand piano and Yamaha electronic piano/organ in the nave of the sanctuary and a 8-rank Wicks pipe organ in the sanctuary balcony.
