iCal 7:30 PM. Mystic Chorale [MA]: Open Rehearsal with Slam Poet. Special guest Regie Gibson will share his poetry as a preview for the fall concert (to be Nov. 22 & 23). His style defies description, combining classical, slam, jazz and his unique electric energy. This first fall rehearsal of Nick Page's Mystic Chorale is open to all, free. Nick Page will teach two songs as well as the songs by Mr. Gibson. Celebrating the power of poetry in song with the music of many traditions, from pop to jazz to folk, plus a Gospel piece featuring sixty youth from Dorchester's Boston City Singers. With Stan Strickland, sax; Jonathan Singleton, piano; and literary musician Regie Gibson in a combination of classical, jazz, rap, beat and slam poetry. Led by Nick Page, with South African friends including Nthabi Thakadu, Phumla Bhungane, and Phakamani Pega; Linda Shoemaker and Louise Grasmere, drums; and a band led by Jonathan Singleton.
