Diverse music that focuses on the human spirit, including Jake Runestad's 50th Anniversary Commission, which is the culminating piece of a two-year project combining three art forms into one celebration for Greater New Haven. The five winning photos from the GNHCC Photography Contest and the winning poems from our recent Poetry Contest will be used as Jake's inspiration for a five-movement musical composition that features the arts in and around New Haven. American music, from Billings to Broadway, rounds to rock 'n roll, and more, featuring a commissioned work by Connecticut composer Joshua Hummel entitled "Beginnings" and Hummel's special arrangement of "How Can I Keep from Singing?" There will be a special medley of popular Broadway musical hits arranged specifically for GNHCC by Robert Tomasulo. A Post-Concert Reception immediately following the performance will be held at The Great Room at The Commons, 75 Washington Avenue, Hamden, CT. iCal 7:00 PM. Greater New Haven Community Chorus [CT]: Choral Workshop. Work with Greater New Haven Community Chorus Artistic Director Noah Blocker-Glynn and dive a little deeper into the world of choral music. The workshop will focus on lifelong healthy singing techniques, tips for successful practice outside of rehearsal, reading music, and much more. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of two pieces of music that will be used as the "course of study." This is also an opportunity for newcomers to meet members of the chorus and perhaps join us for our first rehearsal of the Fall season on August 22 as we prepare to celebrate our 50th Anniversary season. Two evenings: Tuesday, August 6, 7:00–9:30 pm & Thursday, August 8, 8:00–9:30 pm. Participant Fees: $50.00 per person for both nights; Current GNHCC Members: $35.00 per person for both nights.   • The Seraphim Singers [MA]: Inspired to Joy. We have been through many challenges in recent years, yet Joy resurfaces from consolation growing into hope. Ivo Antognini: Hope is the thing with feathers (poetry by Emily Dickinson); Hubert Parry: There is an old belief; Samuel Coleridge-Taylor: Magnificat in F; Trevor Weston: Lauda (premiere, commissioned work, poetry by Angelo Geter); works of J.S.
