Summer 2025 Schedule

Wed, August 6: “The Beauty of Ola Gjeilo”
Alex Ager, director (leads Kearsarge Chorale); accompanist Joe Henderson
Enjoy a selection of Gjeilo’s choral works which feature lyrical lines and gorgeous harmonies. Gjeilo (pronounced Yay-lo) blends diverse musical influences, including jazz, Gregorian chant, and classical traditions, creating a distinctive sound.

Wed, August 13: “Sing the Story”
Annie Arrington, director (leads Community Chorus at UVMC); accompanist Alex Stewart
Deeply human stories expressed in song are among Annie’s favorite choral pieces (interspersed always with a few lighthearted ones!). Come to sing, but be prepared to laugh, cry, reflect, and remember—connecting your own story across cultures through an eclectic blend of genres.

Wed, August 20: “Contemporary Composers to Love”
Emma Cooke, director (recently Lebanon HS; UMass Amherst); accompanist David Chaves
Emma brings a selection of her favorite short choral works (e.g. by Elaine Hagenberg) that may become your favorites!

Wed, August 27: “Mendelssohn Psalm Settings”
Nathaniel G. Lew, director (leads Counterpoint), accompanist Annemieke McLane
Nat has selected Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42, a luscious major work, plus several shorter pieces by Mendelssohn. These will be a treat for singers who haven’t sung them before (and those who have!). It’s also a pleasure to have amazing Annemieke McLane at the piano.
