A multi-generational a capella community chorus devoted to nurturing musicianship and community, in residence at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor, Maine and sponsored by Schoodic Arts for All. Its members share a passion for singing beautiful and unusual music. Directed by singer and composer Anna Dembska, the chorus is open to anyone who loves to sing. Rehearsals are at Hammond Hall, Winter Harbor, ME.

2015 Program: Lachen und Weinen (Laughing and Crying). Our theme this year is inspired by a song by Franz Schubert, "Lachen und Weinen," which means "laughing and crying." The music will explore the intertwining of happiness and misery, tragedy and comedy, laughter and tears. The repertoire includes a cappella arrangements of Schubert songs, Haitian and French Canadian songs, madrigals and contemporary shape-note tunes, some of our favorite pieces from the past, and more.

Performances:

  • Monday, July 27, 7 pm, Schoodic Arts Festival, Hammond Hall, Winter Harbor, ME
  • Indian River Church, Jonesport, Me, date TBA.
  • And probably a performance in Ellsworth and maybe one in another location in the second half of August.
